Zombie Run - Maquoketa

The 2nd Annual Maquoketa Zombie Run is hosted by CAGE and the Cross Country team.  This year's event will be held at the high school and runners will need to hunt for survival items such as water, food, first aid supplies, fire starters and tools, all while being hunted by Zombies.  Those who return to the Green Zone with all required supplies with one or fewer Zombie inflicted injuries, will earn a Survivor Dog Tag.

For those of you who have never participated in a Zombie Run before, each athlete will be provided a flag football belt with two flags.  Zombies will be roaming the course and trying to take your flags.  If they succeed, you have officially been bitten.  The goal is to gather all of the needed supplies and return to the safety zone with as many flags left as possible.  

This years event will be hosted at dusk and we will mark as many hazards as possible. Participants are responsible for their own safety and are encouraged to run/walk only at the speed they feel comfortable.  The Zombies have rules, but they are allowed to jump out to gain the element of surprise.  Those who have an issue with sudden noise and movement will be given a glow stick identifying them as such and all efforts will be made to ensure you have warning as the Zombies approach.  Children will be automatically entered into that category, but please be advised that the Zombies will be wearing make up and are meant to be scary.  It is up to the parent/guardian to determine if this event is appropriate for your child.
