Please join the Friends of the Library for our next program on Thursday, November 17 at 5:00. The Anne Frank Sapling Project will be presented by Kirsten Kumpf Baele, a Holocaust scholar and professor at the University of Iowa. Kirstin was responsible for writing grants to secure a sapling from the tree which was outside the window where Anne Frank and her family lived before her death in the gas chambers. That tree gave Anne and her family hope. The sapling was replanted on the University of Iowa campus, where it now stands not just as a reminder of past history but also as a call to a greater tolerance and respect for all people.
“When I look up at the sky, I somehow feel that everything will change for the better, that this cruelty too will end, that peace and tranquillity will return once more”. Anne Frank
