January's title is "The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters".

The first gathering of the Hometown Pride Reads book club will be this Friday from noon to one at the Maquoketa Public Library Community room. Please feel free to bring lunch or a snack to make it into a brown bag lunch and learn.

This month’s book is The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker. We’ll start off the discussion by talking about the big gathering that will happen in our community on Friday, July 24. What’s the purpose of RAGBRAI? Some of you might know the history or remember when it started. Has the purpose changed over the years? Are the purposes different for organizers, riders and host communities?

A community book club will be held the last Friday of the month.
